The Beginning.

Fight. Flight. Freeze.

Bronwyn Rees was inspired to create RiSE QLD as a grass roots movement due to legislative change in 2012 that affected many sole parents in Australia.

Coming from the lived experience of violence, we can see the gaps within the system. Many of us who have experienced trauma have no idea of what is happening to us or our children. Just witnessing and hearing violence is enough to hardwire a person to the trauma response.
